Lonely mousegirl Cut off from the world kept locked up by her own fear

Kind mousegirl Always trusting no matter how many times she gets hurt

Happy mousegirl She found the good The warm, loving people with whom she belongs

There is so much to life and exploring it puts you at risk It's easy to get jaded and close yourself off

But when you live in the dark seeing danger everywhere you will never get to see the beauty in life

Expecting the worst might keep you alive But when you expect the best That's when you get to live

In the Beginning

When I began I was terrified The path was unknown

What if everyone rejects me? What if I end up all alone? What if this is all in my head? What if I'm wrong?

Every step was scary Every step revealed a new challenge Companions vanished Replaced by new ones Instability was the only constant

One step at a time I've made it this far I'm not carefully treading now I'm running Thrilled to see what lies ahead

Belonging

Everything was beautiful Bright, happy, colorful Full of sparkling, magical wonder I started to smile again Thought that maybe I could fit in And the joy would chase away the thunder Gone were the storms I’d known for so long And I believed with my whole being that I could belong But once again the walls closed in The fear grabbed me and pulled me back in And I ran for a place of safety I do this to myself every time Because anxiety has no rhythm or rhyme Only echoing over and over that everyone hates me It’s exhausting to remember, but I know that it is wrong I know in my heart that I deserve to belong

Something small and simple cuts deep tearing you apart, piece by piece You struggle to recover and understand But thinking is like sculpting with dry sand Your resolve wavers, your mind grows weak After a while, you can hardly speak Before long, the tears are flowing freely But this isn’t who you are, not really

Your kindness, your warmth, your light They’re all still there, ready to take flight Never forget, that you are truly unique You weren’t made to be shelved, you are not some antique

The struggle against Anxiety Mind never ends But you aren’t alone in this, you have wonderful friends I’m proud to be one of them, so believe me when I say I’m here for you; everything’s gonna be okay

Let the World Turn

I know what it's like to feel like you don't belong To feel like you're the only one who doesn't know the words to the song I know what it's like to struggle to go forward Every step feels wrong and you hate to go onward

I know what it's like to be afraid all the time for that whisper of fear to be your only rhythm and rhyme

I know what it's like to desperately want it to go away And to know deep down that it will never go away

I know what it's like so when I tell you that's not all there is I hope it will get through

I know what it's like to struggle to find hope to find that small reason that can help you cope

Excuses to Run Away

They are my moths I am their flame They are never far away Their whispering wings always so helpful Keeping the fear alive to keep me safe It's so easy to run Just pick one and go They'll still be there to tell me to keep on running

But the crackling flame says something else It reminds me all the reasons I have to push past the fear its quiet voice reminds me of dreams that can't be achieved unless I stay

So maybe this time I won't run away
