This journey has been so long It's thrown twists and turns at me I thought I was near the end but when I got through the weeds I found another path stretching ahead of me

I chose this path I didn't know it'd be this long but I can't turn around now so all I can do is take it one step at a time

Step by step Day by day I'll reach the end of this path The sky seems dark now but soon, it'll clear up

And the best part is that I'm not walking alone there are so many people walking alongside me holding my hand so I don't need to be scared

So step by step day by day and hand in hand I'll keep walking this path until it opens up to bright, blue skies

I've been abused tricked betrayed abandoned ostracized hurt

This is how trauma is made No matter what anyone else says

I have trauma

I don't ask for pity or admiration I'm already taking care of myself

For you see Despite my trauma

I am still beautiful I am still worthy I am still enough I am still sparkling

I found myself at my lowest point Barely keeping my head above water My brain screaming to give up But I held my head up long enough to take out my tools and fix it One Year Ago

My old self dissolved away Turned to ashes as I prepared to be born again, to be renewed growing, changing, becoming more

One Year Past

A year of loss, a year of learning Undergoing metamorphosis to become me Trying, failing, succeeding I know it’s hard, but I can do this

One Year Past

I’ve emerged from my cocoon Spread my beautiful wings Took off into the morning sun I have become the sky

One Year Old

I was reduced to nothing died, and was reborn Now I can be who I’m meant to be Now I can live my true life

Cocoon

Shaken, broken I felt so lost The light was fading and so was I I thought and planned Determined not to quit And, believing that I could be better, I built myself a cocoon

I stayed inside Growing, changing every day Until the day I emerged more beautiful than ever

My problems aren’t all gone But now I have the strength to face them And I know that when I need to I can rest and recharge

And come back beautiful
