Step by Step, Day by Day

This journey has been so long It's thrown twists and turns at me I thought I was near the end but when I got through the weeds I found another path stretching ahead of me

I chose this path I didn't know it'd be this long but I can't turn around now so all I can do is take it one step at a time

Step by step Day by day I'll reach the end of this path The sky seems dark now but soon, it'll clear up

And the best part is that I'm not walking alone there are so many people walking alongside me holding my hand so I don't need to be scared

So step by step day by day and hand in hand I'll keep walking this path until it opens up to bright, blue skies

Warmth From Chaos

I started with a ball of tangled chaos and out of it I made warmth

What wonders I can make from this countless ways to bring love to people

To other people it might look like nothing but to me it's the start of a memory

What a gift I have to bring others a little joy Reaching into the chaos and making love and warmth

Don't Be So Mean

I hear the way you talk The unkind words you use The cruel jokes and jabs Rationalizing while insulting

All aimed at yourself

“I'm meant to be alone” “It's fine, no one notices me” “Silly, why would anyone care about me?” “It's okay, I always mess everything up”

Why not stop?

I know kindness is hard Complementing yourself feels impossible Little by little, you can do it I believe in you

Start with small steps

End the cruelty Silence the harsh words Cease the insults Stop being so mean

Because you deserve better than that

Life is rain Always gray clouds So bleak and miserable You can't enjoy it like this But don't worry I'll bring out the sunshine

I'll fold my hands Hope for a brighter day Close my eyes and dream I'll give it my all to be your sunshine girl

I'm glad to hear you're better Even if life's still a struggle I hope you know how clever you are Helping me to see that we can bring out the sunshine

I'll fold my hands show people a brighter day Close my eyes and dream Give it all to them so I can be their sunshine girl

I'm fading, but it's okay I can make a brighter world Where the sun shines all the time So don't cry, live your life And I'll give up mine so everyone can bask in the sunshine

The Real Gift

I got you a gift she's a soft and snugly mouse Your favorite Yeah, I still remember We haven't changed that much

Today was confusing You found a kind of toy you liked but you aren't allowed to have it all because other people would laugh at you That's not okay

I can't get one like it but I did bring you her someone to cuddle with at night and you can carry her around and take care of her just like that doll you wanted

I hope you carry her around without fear I hope you carry yourself without fear I hope you can hold her and not be afraid to be who you are

It's okay to be who you are to be what you are Cos in the whole world There is only one of you

That's why you are the real gift

My Smile

I'm scared Everything keeps falling apart Foundations upon which I once stood are crumbling down and I can't stop it but I can still keep smiling

They can take away my rights They can beat me down They can outlaw my people They can take and take and take But the one thing they can't take is the smile on my face

I can find a reason to smile Even when I'm crying Even when I'm scared I won't let them take my light away My beautiful rainbow light that I spread through my smile

My light has so much in it pain and sorrow love and joy spite and kindness everything that makes me me and I can show it all through a smile

They will never take it away No one will ever take it away not my name not my identity not my light not my smile

They're mine and they always will be

Why Can't I Leave?

I thought I left I remember packing up saying see you later and driving away

So why am I still there?

I still feel pushed away and alone I'm certain no one wants me around but I'm not there anymore where I always felt those feelings

So why am I still there?

I open a door hear voices laughing and I'm back there again with this pit in my stomach

Why am I still here?

You hurt people I love You forgot and ignored me That's why I left Why am I still here?

Why can't I leave?

This world doesn't want people like me

People who were born different People who were raised differently People who look and think differently

People like me People like you People like us

They try to beat us into place Convince us that no one wants us Erase us from the narrative Hope that everyone forgets about us Then leave us to deal with the trauma All on our own

But we are not alone We are not wrong Every single person in this world is different in a million different ways Who are they to say that their ways are right and ours are wrong?

We are different We are unique We cannot be silenced We cannot be erased

Because this is our world

and we will not be forgotten

I Can Still Try

Even on the bad days when I'm struggling to go on I can still try my best to keep carrying on

It's tough to push through it to reach for my dreams but I can still keep going what else is there to do?

Sure, I might fail I might end up going backwards but other days, if I'm lucky I'll find just the right words
