Hold on Tight

The world is out of control What do we do? Trapped inside this raging tornado We hold on tightly to each other

We're all here together trying to ride out the storm I don't know where we'll end up but at least we won't be alone

The deafening winds try to rip us apart It's exhausting to keep fighting it But together, we share in each other's strength Together, we are mightier than the storm

Day after day, please keep remembering We can get through this together Just hold on tight I'm here for you

When we stumble and fall you stop and help us to stand You support us until we can walk all the while, making us believe we can You send us words of kindness Just to show you care Bringing smiles to our faces Making the world a little more fair

You give us safe spaces to open up and share our stories Until the day comes when we join in, when we’re ready

Keep standing tall Carry the world with your might and let the scared souls like me know that they have allies in this fight

A Better World

We’ve seen what happens when people are so scared of what’s different, of what they don’t understand that they feel that the only way to deal with it is to turn to violence We’ve seen what happens when people are so angry that they feel that they have to hurt people who can’t fight back just to feel better

We’ve seen what happens when people are so alone that the only way they found to belong was by joining with groups defined by hatred

We’ve seen what happens when people are so desperate for validation that they will say anything regardless of the consequences just to get attention

There will always be people who use violence, fear, and pain to get what they want to stop their own hurt to find belonging to make themselves feel better

But we are not defined by them We are stronger than them We who have the patience to build a better world The kindness to accept change The empathy to stand up for those in need

We can stand together We can make this world better We can make a world in which no child ever has to lose their life because of a monster with a gun

Our Voices Together

One voice is small barely audible, practically invisible so when one voice speaks out it’s easy to ignore It can fill you with despair to feel so helpless as violence and lies spread like a poison

But when your voice joins with others suddenly, your message can’t be ignored

If we join our voices together as one with a message of kindness we are stronger than the hate

Don’t give up trying Don’t despair You are not alone and together, we can do anything

It's hard to think about tomorrow When we're so busy surviving today But no matter how bad things get It's gonna be okay Even though we're all suffering and although friends are far away We're still sticking together So it's gonna be okay

The world outside looks so bleak But this night isn't going to stay This is only the dark before the dawn It's gonna be okay

Things are going to get better soon Because we'll all work to make them that way United, we can do anything So I know it's gonna be okay

Stand for Our Foundation

We stand on a foundation Built of millions of voices Held together by trust in one another For 200 years It has stood tall A beacon of hope to people everywhere

When someone on the outside gets it into their mind that they can take it down We stand against them as one

When our foundation is poisoned we must all remember that although it came from within that isn't who we are

Our foundation is fragile So we must all stand together Stand for our foundation Because we mustn't let it fall

Why Must Suffering Exist?

Why must suffering exist? Why must love ones never return? Why must we endure hardship while those above us never learn? Why can't we have a say in what happens on the next page? Why can't we be more to power than a bird trapped in a cage?

Why must victory be ripped away when it only just entered our grasp? Why must the light be snuffed out by the darkness without even a gasp?

Is there no way to end this struggle Until someone loses and someone wins? Is it so hard to say I'm sorry And to forgive another for their sins?

Must we fear that which is different? Can we accept others that aren't like us? Can we agree upon what's real? And cast out hatred without a fuss?

Suffering is precious as much so as hope and light without it, we wouldn't know that there was even a fight

Why must there be suffering? It exists so we may overcome it We become united in suffering And together, we will overcome it

Keeping the Faith

I believe in my country That waving flag promises freedom And hope and opportunity A bright new future But to so many it broke that promise They believed in that flag but it didn't believe in them

It's easy to point a finger at someone else entirely To say it's their fault We didn't do anything

That's the problem We didn't do anything Now people are forced to scream just to get our attention

We all have a right to be angry Those are our brothers and sisters betrayed by that flag It lied to all of us

But it still stands for something It's up to us to decide what But with decision must come action Good people must do something

If we want people to keep the faith We must act to fix our problems We all stand together When it lies to one, it lies to us all

Except that flag is only a symbol It can't do anything It's not the one that started this We did

We broke the promise We turned a blind eye to the lies So now it's up to us We all have to fix it

Because we are better than that

Looking out the Window

Looking out the window There's life, moving, whirling about A never ending motion Like a kaleidoscope always turning Changing the world in small ways People come, people go Nothing stays the same for long Not even a microsecond Something is always different One moment to the next Bringing infinite possibilities Fear could be lurking around the corner But so could happiness, peace, or love That's what it means to hope To see the next corner, or down a long corridor And believe that the best is waiting There's no way to know for sure It takes courage to go forward To take the next step towards a brighter future To move the kaleidoscope along with everyone else Changing it for yourself, or your friends Only together can we make it brighter than yesterday Even when it turns dark, together we can keep going It won't stay that way forever True, it might get worse When it is, we must be honest about it We must look at it with the wisdom and strength to know that things have turned bad For only when we accept the disease Can we find the cure
