A Better World
We’ve seen what happens when people are so scared of what’s different, of what they don’t understand that they feel that the only way to deal with it is to turn to violence
We’ve seen what happens when people are so scared of what’s different, of what they don’t understand that they feel that the only way to deal with it is to turn to violence
We don't want violence in our streets We want love in our hearts
We don't want screams of fear We want songs of hope
It's uncomfortable to stand up To speak out when something's wrong Like standing before looming faceless judges That hold my fate in their hands
I believe in my country That waving flag promises freedom And hope and opportunity A bright new future
Looking out the window There's life, moving, whirling about A never ending motion Like a kaleidoscope always turning Changing the world in small ways People come, people go Nothing stays the same for long Not even a microsecond
It's easy to look at suffering And say “It's not my problem” Because it's safer not to get involved
It's easier to pin someone down than to trust that they'll stay when you ask The easy way gives them no chance to resist but it only does harm, no good
I cannot understand the life you've lived how my world looks to you what you go through every day
