I’m sorry if what I said didn’t make sense or even if you might’ve taken offense I’m sorry if I assumed incorrectly or if you think I tried to hurt you directly I’m sorry I can’t be what you want me to be But I’m not sorry for being me I’m sorry if I don’t meet your expectations or if I took my life in a different direction I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you the whole truth I was scared because I didn’t know what you’d do I’m sorry I’m not everything you wanted me to be But I’m not sorry for being me

I’m sorry if I forgot something or if you thought I was misbehaving I’m sorry if I didn’t understand or if I didn’t listen to your plan I’m sorry I’m not exactly how you wanted me to be But I’m not sorry for being me

I know I can never be perfect But I know now that it’s not worth it To keep trying to be something I’m not I only said sorry because I forgot That I’m never going to be everything you wanted of me But I’m not sorry for being me

I Am Me

There’s so much about me to know All of it, I’m willing to show But you aren’t going to take the time to look Only flip through your outdated book trying to neatly categorize me all the while, refusing to recognize me to see what makes me truly unique because it’s so much easier to critique than to try to understand that I don’t follow your plan

There is so much more to me than you will ever see You can’t tie me down with chains and locks I don’t fit inside your box I need to spread my wings and fly free then everyone will know that I am me

You keep calling me names trying to make me feel ashamed forcing me to hide the real me deep inside But you’re not going to get to me I want everyone to get to see The beauty I have to share I know there are people who care I refuse to let myself feel terrible just because you can’t see what makes me special

There is so much more to me than your closed mind will ever be able to see you can’t cram me into your box and bury me underneath the rocks I’ll break out and fly away free then everyone will see that I am me

We all wear different faces as we pass through life A different face for every occasion For different people at a time A face for our friends A face for our families A face at our jobs A face in our communities

When you change your face Will you remember who you were? Will you be able to change back Or has it already become a blur?

That face might have changed already As faces and people often do Even though we often ask who we are The answer is that they're all the real you

Don't be afraid to change your face To be someone different, someone new When considering a new face, remember to make it someone for others to look up to

Faceless soldiers march to the ticking of the clock

Tramping through the marshes of time Never stopping, never slowing

What will you do when they reach you? Will you stand your ground or be swept up by the tide?

Will you hold your own or be knocked off your feet?

Will you stay where you are or turn and join the herd?

Don't let them take your face and make you part of the crowd

Your voice is unique You mustn't let it fade away

You can walk with them that stampede of conformity

But they can never control you You can still decide your own path

I've Got a Plan

If your friends are like mine Which can be a hassle at times When everyone asks “what do we do?” They're all going to look at you If you're like me, you'll think of something Though at first, I felt like such a dumb thing Now when they say we can't, I say we can Because I've got a plan I grew up in the shadow of five brothers Like that, it's hard to get the attention of others You've got to work harder Or maybe just smarter I'd say don't take stupid risks But I've taken at least six Don't stick your head in the sand Instead, come up with a plan

We've found ourselves outnumbered But I've always remembered We've probably faced worse We'll dodge every spell and curse It doesn't matter how many enemies there are We get out with neither scratch nor scar Against impossible odds, but still they ran Because I had a plan

Sometimes, complications arise I'm not really what you'd call wise I can think at least eight moves ahead But things don't always play out like they do in my head I'm not saying all our problems are my fault I'm not the one that ticked off an evil cult But I'll never throw my friends under the tram I'll get them out with another plan

I've said things that made sense at first But then only made things worse Even then, I've always had someone by my side Although I don't always want to be the one to decide Where we go next, what we're going to do When I'm stuck, I know who to turn to We'll win, I know we can Because I've got a plan
