You Have Changed

I've watched you weep for burned bridges Long for times now long gone I've seen you cringe under accusing eyes Clinging to the past, unable to let go It's easy to sit among the past times To talk to ghosts and memories Wishing for another chance at it To go back and get it right

But you can never change the past It's written in stone I know these words won't reach you today but maybe tomorrow, they will

When you look back at the pain you caused Still stuck inside those moments long ago You feel them again and again As if they were all happening right now

But they aren't happening now They already happened long ago When you try to remember them differently It only tells me one thing

You have changed You understand the right thing to do So what happens next is your choice And you've learned enough to make the right one

My Own Doing

There was a time when we were happy There weren't many other people with us But we didn't need anyone else We were happy to be together But I wanted something else Some sense of freedom A false vision of a greener field Full of sunlight, but devoid of people

Then I got it, but it wasn't greener It was dark, and cold Everything was dead, so I ran back But it was too late; you were already gone

I'll wait for you Longing for you to return Wishing that I could bring you back But you can never return

The bridge back is gone I struck a match and destroyed it I knew what I was doing I watched from the other side as you walked away

You're gone because I pushed you away So what happens now Is my own doing And I deserve it

Voice of Hope

It's hard to ignore fear It will keep you safe, I know It keeps you alive, but see that it doesn't let you live You've got to look past the fear See the bright sun up above It's a long climb to reach it The clouds might shroud it in shadow

But a new day's on its way I'm sure it will be better than this Bringing with it millions of possibilities for life and joy and hope

The chance for happiness may be bleak It may seem like it's torn from your grasp That someone you loved is gone Not long after you met

But there's always a spark of hope A light shining in the black It might not be what you wanted It's still good, nonetheless

So survive to live your life Keep looking forward to the dawn When the sun will rise and end the night And hope will shine again

Whisper of Fear

Fear waits around every corner In every dark alleyway Behind the eyes of every stranger Sheltered in the unseen and unknown A shadow lurking in the dark Whispering in your ear The predator, waiting for its prey To let down its guard

But fear keeps us safe Reminds us not to get too close It's easier to let fear take hold To shut us off from the world

It's only trying to help And it's hard to get close Trust and happiness are gifts Ripped away as soon as they've been given

Fear tells us how much we'll suffer It whispers from the dark To remind us not to get hurt That it's not worth the price

That's the choice of the whisper Stay safe alone in the dark Or risk the pain of getting close for a fleeting moment of happiness

Beautiful Dream

You rest on my pillow beside me Smiling when I smile at you You rest your head on my shoulder when no one else is around When I'm lost and scared and alone You take my hand and tell me it's alright Then I remember that I'm not alone Because you're never far behind

You light my way with hope Pull love out of the air That you drift seamlessly through Smiling and laughing so I'll join in

Hope and love are your home But you leave it for me when I'm hurt I close my eyes and I see you You close yours and press your forehead to mine

You never take anything from me No matter what I offer you Instead you help me dry my tears And pull me back up to my feet

The most beautiful part of you above all else, there's no contest is that you're always there when I'm sad but you sit back and smile with me when I'm glad

Terrible Nightmare

I hear you creeping through the night spindly fingers reaching closer whispering in my ear reminding me why I should be afraid If I look round, you're not there But I can feel you in the prickles on my neck You're in the goosebumps on my arms You step to the beating of my heart

The light chases you away, but I can't always find the switch Even when I open my eyes you're still waiting for me

You live in the corner of the room the one with cobwebs where the light doesn't go In the shadow that nothing casts And the scraping in a forgotten room

I can't run away from you You're everywhere I go Always right behind me Breathing down my neck

You don't yell, you don't speak Your voice is only a whisper That's all it needs to be To make me afraid of you

I Don't Know

No one can tell you who you're meant to be But remember that a chameleon has its own beauty The future's unknown You'll have to take a risk Even though it's hard to sing when you don't know the pitch

Take your best guess It's okay to be afraid Even when you don't know If anyone will come to your aid

Though you may want to quit you've still got to try Cos if you're too afraid to fall you'll never learn to fly

Who Am I?

I don't know what it means to be me I don't know what my voice sounds like I try to find it, but another comes out instead I change to match those around me If I live for other people, when no one's around who am I? The world outside is scary But I'll be right here to help I'll hold your hand and watch while you hold everyone else's

When the darkness sets in I'm ready to go to work I've got hundreds of memories to remind you that you're good

Don't forget that you're worth it all I've got enough love for the two of us And you've got enough hope and kindness for everyone else that needs it

Good times and bad times I'll be here through it all So go ahead and take that first step I'm here to catch you if you fall

I watch you while you sleep Infecting your dreams You can't run away from me I'm always waiting for you You're a failure at everything There's no place for you here Behind the false smiles Everyone wants you to leave

Fear isn't the bad guy It's what keeps you safe Be afraid of everything And nothing will hurt you

Don't trust them, trust me They'll hurt you, I know it You're not worth saving Nor protecting nor praising

Kindness exists in fairy tales But this is the real world It's cold and unforgiving And love is only a weakness

So stick with me for protection I guarantee you'll be fine After all misery loves company And we've got nothing but time
