You give us safe spaces to open up and share our stories Until the day comes when we join in, when we’re ready

Keep standing tall Carry the world with your might and let the scared souls like me know that they have allies in this fight

Among Good People

Today, life is chaos mad, wild, out of control a raging river on which I’m trapped But being here, now with all of you is a port of safety a grounding feeling

It’s time to catch my breath to rest and recover sitting quietly among good people

I’m glad I took time to come out and see you Now I can leave with a little more light to take on this wild life

The Gingerbread House

In the forest rests a great gingerbread house With glistening creams and candies sweet, succulent, delicious People from all over flocked to that house they dove in devouring all they could

The beast that lived there was never cross with them it beckoned them come closer to eat as much as they wanted

Because while they fed on the house the beast fed on them when the people noticed it smiled and said sorry

But it fed on them all the same because they couldn't resist the house and any who refused to partake in it were cast out of the world

I'm not asking you to stop eating it I'm asking you to help me slay the beast So that one day we can have our cakes and not get eaten too

More Than a Bridge

In a small town built around a canal you'll find what looks to be an ordinary bridge If you're not watching you might drive past taking little note of what's really there

Maybe you spotted it as you drove over maybe you thought “It's just a bridge”

It's more than a bridge more than pieces of metal more than simply a way to get from A to B

It's our breath of life the heart of our village the golden thread that binds our community's web together

So stop for a moment enjoy our beautiful town and then you'll see that it's more than a bridge

Words Like Raindrops

It's so easy to scream To stomp your feet To draw attention to yourself to storm and bleat Even when you're angry, it's important to stop and think Maybe this isn't a good idea It may only push others to the brink

Loud voices only add to the chaos Even when everyone else screams It doesn't mean you need to add your voice It's more complicated than it seems

Choose your words with care Even with a soft voice, the right word can make all the difference They echo around to ensure you're heard

Don't be angry like thunder Making storms brew and the winds blow Sprinkle words like raindrops Carefully to help the flowers grow

Everyone here is sad to see you go But worry not, we're happy for you, I hope you know Begin a new leg of your journey without fear In our thoughts, we'll keep you near

Down the road when you take a rest well earned Think back to us and all that you've learned

Keep us in your thoughts for a while Before setting off on the next mile

Your journey may take you far from here So remember these words from year to year

No matter how hard the problem, how difficult the task If you ever need help, you need only ask

Distance won't keep us all apart Because we'll always be together in our hearts

Looking out the Window

Looking out the window There's life, moving, whirling about A never ending motion Like a kaleidoscope always turning Changing the world in small ways People come, people go Nothing stays the same for long Not even a microsecond Something is always different One moment to the next Bringing infinite possibilities Fear could be lurking around the corner But so could happiness, peace, or love That's what it means to hope To see the next corner, or down a long corridor And believe that the best is waiting There's no way to know for sure It takes courage to go forward To take the next step towards a brighter future To move the kaleidoscope along with everyone else Changing it for yourself, or your friends Only together can we make it brighter than yesterday Even when it turns dark, together we can keep going It won't stay that way forever True, it might get worse When it is, we must be honest about it We must look at it with the wisdom and strength to know that things have turned bad For only when we accept the disease Can we find the cure

I Cannot Understand
