Slice of Community
Won't you share with me a slice of community? There's plenty for everyone So why don't you have some?
Poetry for people who could use a little kindness
Won't you share with me a slice of community? There's plenty for everyone So why don't you have some?
I stand in a forest, a million paths in front of me Each one a different choice, a different person I could be
I've taken roads I thought were bright But those only brought another plight
Some paths were dark and full of fear, But in the end, they brought me here
We lay back and unwind Both saying what's really on our minds
We look back on the days long ago The days of laughter and the days of woe
We can laugh about it now It's hard to think how
(Told from the perspective of Princess from Girl in Red)
I used to be weak and small All I ever did was fall I wanted a fairy tale Even though I always fail I think I can do it
A stroke of lightning Everything is on fire What could we have done?
War Started by a single shot No good or evil Only humans fighting
Thrown off a shooting star, I drifted through space I watched stars pass by, but none offered me their light Then I found your star with its pale glow I basked in its light, and offered what I could of my own
Every time I make a mistake That mistake creates another vulture circling Hanging there, waiting To remind me of that time I was less than I could be
I took roots and stood still allowing the world to pass me by Until I looked up one night and saw a shooting star fly by
Your humor used to bring people together You spoke of family, of kids growing up in tough times We laughed with you about it Never knowing with whom we were laughing
