I've Got to Try

A weight has fallen on my mind Strapped in, stopping me thinking I want to write joyous, uplifting words But sometimes, I simply can't

Sometimes, my mind turns dark Full of suffering, a battlefield Strewn with the bodies of lost ideas Of dreams, broken and bloody

Even then, I can still keep going I have to keep writing because my voice is important and no one's going to speak up for me

If I don't say what's in my mind There's no chance it will make a difference Even if the chance of changing the world would be like an ant stopping an avalanche

It's hard, and I want to quit Burned out, breaking under the strain But my voice is important So I've got to try
