You Can Belong Here
On the outside staring through glass calling, to no avail feeling like you’re second class
Poetry for people who could use a little kindness
On the outside staring through glass calling, to no avail feeling like you’re second class
Even on the days when everything goes wrong Keep going forward We’ll all help you be strong
I was so excited to see you that I jumped for joy and squealed But when I ran to greet you You backed away in fear
No matter how dark the day No matter how black the night It can only take one voice to say Everything’s gonna be alright
How many times have I repeated the same words to an empty room to feel like someone’s listening?
I know you’re scared of the darkness all around of the darkness inside that it will never go away
Deep down inside is a world I don’t show full of darkness without light to cast a shadow
Fear is not the boss of you It can’t tell you what to do Stand tall, look it in the eye And tell it “You won’t take me. Not I.”
Among the changing leaves The pumpkins, the corn, the scarecrows Something different came along something we didn’t understand
When you mess up When you let yourself down The hardest thing to do is to move on
