The Hard Way
I build a sand castle with dried sand even though it's hard and it crumbles at a touch
Poetry for people who could use a little kindness
I build a sand castle with dried sand even though it's hard and it crumbles at a touch
In the forest rests a great gingerbread house With glistening creams and candies sweet, succulent, delicious
No matter how bad it gets No matter how dark the night Know one thing it will not stay this way
No matter how bad the darkness there is always light even though it may hide just out of sight
It's been a long day full of laughter and of smiles Such one we haven't seen in a good many whiles
In a small town built around a canal you'll find what looks to be an ordinary bridge
When life looks impossible And the path is an unending track I want you to know I've got your back
We look into the dark We can't know what's there What changes lie ahead Just beyond our vision So we squint and speculate But we can only do so much Until we venture down that dark tunnel
When we were kids Neither of us could've known All the ways you'd change and all the ways you'd grow
When you're different people don't see a person They see entertainment A walking punch line
