I Am Not Alone

I used to believe that I was ephemeral so full of doubt I was certain I was invisible

Smiling to fit in always reaching hoping, dreaming but never connecting

I was certain that I was wrong that it was my fault that I couldn’t belong

But then something changed People started smiling back when I showed them kindness and reminded me they had my back

People thought of me even when I wasn’t there a song, a picture, a book showed me how much they care

I see now that I am loved more than I could’ve known thanks to you all I know that I am not alone
