End of 2024 Update

Salutations, friend! I had to pause when typing out that year, cos I can't believe we're at the end of 2024 already. Life has been crazy this year. I have so much going on, and there might be some changes coming soon.

I've got four big life things I want to talk about.

1. Nesting Partners

Many of you know that I'm living with two of my lovely partners. That's been a huge adjustment for all of us as we work through issues of cohabitating. We all love each other very much, even if sometimes we want to scream.

Since I moved in with them, I'm preparing my house for some very special people to be living there. That house is so special to me. It's been a safe space for me for nine years, and I'm looking forward to it being a safe space for people I love.

2. The BIG News

Here's the big news

Are you ready?

You sure?

BOTTOM SURGERY!!!

That's right, your favorite transfem mousegirl poet is getting bottom surgery on February 25th, 2025!!!! This is happening so much sooner than I was expecting, so there's a ton for which I need to prepare. I will be houseridden all of March, and bedridden for part of that.

If you want to support me during that time, it would mean so much to me. I'll still be writing and posting poetry during that time. I won't have a whole lot else to do. My family and loved ones will be looking after me in that time, so I'll never be completely alone.

I'm taking lots of notes during this, so feel free to ask if you want to understand more about what's going on. I'll likely be posting about it here too. This is huge, and it helped me so much to have people share their experiences with me.

3. Work

As part of preparing for surgery, I'm working a ton now. (My response to “Are you working on DAY?” is “Does it end in 'y'?”) This will help me save up for the surgery, which is very expensive (Of course, you can help too if you'd like).

I've been at this job and working with these people for over 10 years now. They're very respectful and accepting, and I appreciate them more than I can express. So while it's good work, it's taking up a lot of time.

4. Poetry

I am currently working on a new book, Touch the Clouds. This will be different than the other books because it won't be finished by the deadline only I know about. However, the poems will be written, and I will be posting them starting the first Monday of 2025. The book will be about overcoming your demons to reach for your dreams.

I'm really happy with how this is turning out, and there are many reflections on my journey of self-discovery I've had this year. While the poems will start going up before the book, the book will eventually be available as an ebook. I don't know if/when a physical copy will be available. While I reached a big milestone this year of funding my writing purely from my writing, I don't make a ton, and physical books aren't cheap to print. Most of that was from My Beautiful Sky, which itself was funded from the past few years of writing. As always, the current books are available on my Ko-Fi store.

Going forward, I might change up Thursdays a little. I've written a lot of poems on here (like, hundreds of poems), and I don't remember most of them even. I'd like to take time to highlight them, the ones I see and think “Oh, right, that one! I love that one!” We'll see.

Wait, that's it? Aren't You Forgetting Someone?

Right, Rose! The animation got to be way too much for me. Don't get me wrong, I loved doing those videos, but I don't have enough time to dedicate to them. I still love her stories, and I want to keep sharing them. She'll be back, every now and then, so keep an eye out for her.

Conclusion

It has been quite a year. I've grown so much, and learned a ton about myself. I've tried new things, found some that didn't work, and found others that did. I've made new friends and reconnected with old ones.

As always, thank you for your support. I read every comment, and always smile at them (Love you too, Mom!) Every smile at an open mic, every comment on the site, every contribution no matter how small, it all means the world to me.

Poetry is what I love. I love being on stage. I love standing up and reminding people that it's okay to be yourself, exactly as you are now. You are perfect just the way you are. And I love you.

So please, take care of yourself, friend.
